Meet the Chef
Chef Tom (pictured with Daughter, Jiin, and Wife Laddavan) was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand; a haven for delicious and unique Southeast Asian food. But, he didn’t start out in the food industry, and instead attended Automotive Mechanic School for five years. He began working for Thai Airways as an aircraft ground equipment technician overseeing maintenance equipment.
As years passed working for Thai Airways, he was given the opportunity to travel to the United States to begin a new journey in a different field. After moving to New York City with his family, he started his first job in the food industry washing dishes. He worked his way up from dishwasher to prep cook in one of New York’s famous French restaurants. From there, he took advantage of an opportunity to broaden his horizons and work for a 5-star hotel in Manhattan alongside one of New York’s Master Chefs. Chef Tom worked in this establishment for 12 years learning the ins and outs of a kitchen and preparing magnificent food for the hotel. While working there, he also maintained his hobby of learning different types of cuisine from all over the world.
After gaining experience in French, Italian, Middle Eastern, Kosher and Nouveau American cuisine (just to name a few), Chef Tom moved to Georgia to expand his passion for cooking even more. In 2002, he and his wife, Laddavan, (LaDDa Bistro’s namesake) opened a restaurant in Warner Robins called Ladda Thai, a successful Thai restaurant with many passionate followers. They carried this momentum to Macon and now share their love of food with all who visit LaDDa Bistro.
